Aldermore announces the appointment of Paul Lawrence as Independent Non-Executive Director from 1 December 2025, and as Board Risk Committee Chair, subject to regulatory approval, effective from January 2026. Paul will take over from Richard Banks, who will step down.

With more than thirty years’ experience at HSBC Group in senior roles spanning Asia, the USA, and the UK, Paul brings substantial expertise in banking, operations, risk, and audit. Paul also brings deep board oversight and governance expertise to Aldermore, having held several non-executive positions since he retired from HSBC Group in 2013, including at HSBC Turkey, HSBC Middle East and Shawbrook Bank, where he chaired the board risk committee.

Pat Butler, Chairman of Aldermore, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Paul to the Aldermore Board. His expertise in specialist lending, banking and governance will be a real asset as we continue to grow our presence in the UK market and deliver long-term value for our customers. I’d also like to thank Richard Banks for his outstanding contribution to the Board over the past five years and I wish him all the best.”

Paul Lawrence, Independent Non-Executive Director at Aldermore, said: “I’m excited to be joining Aldermore and look forward to working with the business to support its strategic ambitions. This is a great opportunity to contribute to an organisation that is clearly focused on growth, innovation, and delivering meaningful value for its customers.”
