Aldermore appoints Group Managing Director - Retail Finance

Sue Hayes appointed to new executive role at specialist bank.

Aldermore, the specialist bank, has appointed Sue Hayes to the newly created role of Group Managing Director – Retail Finance.

Sue will join the Bank in June, and will be a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee. Reporting to Phillip Monks, Chief Executive Officer of Aldermore, Sue will be responsible for managing the existing Bank’s mortgages and savings businesses as well as expanding into new areas. Since its launch in 2009, Aldermore has established itself as a significant supporter of landlords, homeowners and savers with mortgage lending totalling £6.2 billion and the Bank holding £7.3 billion of customer deposits, at the end of June 2017.

Sue joins Aldermore from Barclays where she was Managing Director of Premier and Community Segments and Savings Products. Prior to this, Sue worked at Santander UK, where she held a number of senior roles across retail and commercial banking, including Managing Director – Business Banking and Director of Product Marketing. During this time Santander’s market share in new mortgages increased threefold. 

Sue brings over 25 years’ of banking experience to her new role, having also held senior positions at RBS and Halifax Bank of Scotland.

Relevant skills, strengths and experience:

Sue brings extensive financial services experience to the Executive gained through more than 20 years in Banking and Financial Services.

Sue started her career in Banking at Lloyds and HBOS and Sue has led a number of both Retail and Business Banking businesses including more recently leading Products and Analytics at Santander and latterly running Business Banking and then Wealth. Sue joined Barclays as Head of Business Banking and then moved to lead the Affluent business including International and Investments and Stockbroking. Latterly she has led the Premier Business as well as Savings across the Retail and Business Bank in addition to the Retail Bank Segment.

Sue has a passion for Customers and Clients as well as having led up to 4000 people and prides herself on people development.

Sue has an MBA from Cranfield, Marketing Diploma and a number of financial services qualifications.
