Northampton-based coating company, Tetramass Ltd, has acquired local firm Campbell Plastics with support from Aldermore.

Tetramass CEO, Mark Gardner, started the company four years ago to produce bespoke protective coatings for a range of products from wood to shoes to antibacterial cleaning materials and has since grown it into a £5 million business.

Tetramass acquired Campbell Plastics when a close industry contact decided to sell the business. This came at an opportune time for Tetramass who had been considering expansion into the plastics industry. Tetramass has retained the entire team of employees at Campbell Plastics and has further plans for organic growth, as well as merger and acquisition activity within Northamptonshire.

The £350,000 facility from Aldermore ensured that Tetramass’s acquisition of Campbell Plastics was able to progress at pace and seamlessly and means that Tetramass has taken another step towards becoming one of the largest coating providers in the UK.

Commenting, Mark Gardner, CEO of Tetramass, said:

“Tetramass is an ambitious firm and we had been looking for opportunities to enter the plastics market. Campbell Plastics is a great business with a strong workforce and I’d known the former owner a long time so when the business came up for sale, it made complete sense for us to bring it into the Tetramass team.

“Aldermore made it really easy for us to get the deal done. Dealing with banks isn’t always straightforward but our relationship manager Andy was always at the end of the phone when I needed him. Knowing I had a reliable, local contact really helped. We’re thrilled to have completed the Campbell Plastics deal so quickly and amicably.”

Andy Geagen, Regional Sales Manager - Northampton, Aldermore, said:

“Both Tetramass and Campbell Plastics are great businesses and I have no doubt that together, they will go from strength to strength. Tetramass has a great reputation and a loyal client base including some of the UK’s leading companies. Despite dealing with many international clients Mark is loyal to the local area and dedicated to creating and protecting jobs for skilled workers in Northamptonshire. We are proud to be supporting him and his team during this exciting period of growth.”
