Responding to the latest Bank of England figures on Funding for Lending Scheme (FLS) published yesterday, Phillip Monks, Chief Executive of Aldermore Bank said:

"There is little doubt that the FLS continues to be a success.  It has been a key step in the recent growth of the UK economy and it has ensured a continued flow of lending to UK homeowners and small businesses alike.  These latest figures from the Bank of England show the growing importance of the so called challenger banks in ensuring that the UK economy continues to grow.  During the 4th quarter of 2013, net lending to households and businesses grew by around £6bn with Aldermore now being in the top ten largest net lenders in the UK - a reflection of the very competitive deals we offer our customers.

As we approach Spring - traditionally one of the busiest periods for the UK housing market - we are optimistic about the outlook for both the housing market and the economy.  We will continue to support UK homeowners and small businesses alike by continuing to offer attractive deals to our customers, all backed by a first class customer service offering."
