'No danger of a housing bubble' says Aldermore's Charles Haresnape

Commenting on the Markit UK Household Finance Index released today, Aldermore's Residential Mortgages Managing Director Charles Haresnape says:

"The gap between the finances of homeowners and renters has widened during September, which perhaps reflects the recent reported rises in house prices in London and the South East. But it is important to note that many regions in the UK are experiencing flat or even falling house prices.

"Household finances are still under a lot of pressure and 38 per cent of those surveyed predict they will see a worsening of their finances over the next 12 months.

"These issues of affordability will naturally constrain house prices and as such, I see no danger of a housing bubble forming, despite recent reports to the contrary."
