Aldermore will once again be helping to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurial talent through the latest SKILL! Programme workshop in Reading on Tuesday. Launched by young entrepreneur Patrick Philpott, who founded parent company Visionpath Education while studying for his A-Levels, the SKILL! Programme is a series of intensive enterprise workshops for budding business minds.

Each event sees student groups from local schools challenged to come up with an innovative business concept, with mentors on hand to help them develop their ideas during the course of the day. This activity culminates in an exciting pitching process, with groups taking it in turns to present their ideas to a panel of business experts in the ‘Tiger’s Cage’.

Through Aldermore’s on-going partnership with the programme, the Bank has already had the pleasure of witnessing the incredible talent of the entrepreneurs of tomorrow as they get their first taste of the business world. SKILL! Programme sessions offer a unique opportunity for young people to learn first-hand from experienced business mentors, gaining confidence alongside practical skills such as presentation techniques and teamwork.

Beyond personally benefitting the students who take part, this is also a vital step towards bridging the skills gap faced by British businesses looking to hire able new recruits, which poses a significant barrier to growth. Taking place in an ever-growing number of UK cities, the programme is creating a way for schools to work more closely with businesses, giving pupils a newfound understanding of business culture.

With further SKILL! Programme workshops also planned for Peterborough and Manchester later in the year, Aldermore will soon be inviting local businesses to mentor students in upcoming sessions. Follow Aldermore on Twitter to keep up to date with the latest details on how you can get involved.
