Last week, Aldermore joined some of the UK’s leading manufacturing minds at the EEF’s ‘Make it Britain’ conference, exploring how British firms can secure a continued renaissance for Britain’s thriving manufacturing industry.
Through a number of interactive polls with manufacturers in the audience and speeches from industry leaders, the conference showcased a positive outlook for the sector, building on seven consecutive quarters of growth.
Despite this building momentum, several key challenges remain if manufacturers are to capitalise on their potential in years to come. In particular, the conference identified the need to nurture skills growth and attract a new generation of young people into the industry, with both Business Minister Matt Hancock and Labour Party leader Ed Miliband advocating apprenticeships in their keynote speeches.
