Aldermore to mentor future business leaders in SKILL! programme

IN: Business news

Since 2009, Aldermore has been supporting SMEs across the United Kingdom with products and services tailored towards the needs of individual businesses.

But, the Bank has also been helping to support British business in other ways, including the training and development of young budding entrepreneurs. Our involvement with the SKILL! Programme is just one example of this.

Launched in 2008, the SKILL! Programme has reached over 1,000 young people across the United Kingdom. The scheme was devised by young entrepreneur Patrick Philpott and, over the past five years, has been inspiring young people through events and mentoring in cities across the United Kingdom.  Last year, Aldermore's Managing Director of Savings Simon Healy participated in the Manchester workshop.

This year, Aldermore is increasing its involvement with the programme, taking part in three SKILL! workshops in London, Birmingham and Manchester. Each workshop will see students broken into groups and, under the guidance of a mentor, develop a business idea to pitch at the end of the day in the 'Tigers cage'. The events aim to help young people develop their skills for the future, equipping them with a greater understanding of how to increase their employability. You can watch a video of one of the SKILL! presentations below:

The first workshop takes place in London on the 26th April. You can follow the coverage on our Twitter feed.
