British challenger bank, Aldermore has been voted 'Best Business Bank of the Year' in the prestigious City of Manchester Business Awards, held at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester on 21st March.

Supported by Manchester City Council, the awards celebrate the best of Manchester and reward companies who have achieved outstanding success during the past twelve months. The award was collected on behalf of Aldermore by Benjamin Day, Regional Sales Manager for Aldermore Invoice Finance.

Nick Smith, Regional Managing Director - Northern Region, for Aldermore Invoice Finance, said: "Aldermore has worked hard to demonstrate that, as one of the UK's new breed of challenger banks, it's able to make a big difference to small and medium sized businesses throughout the county.

"It's particularly gratifying for me that Manchester, which is such an important centre for Aldermore, has acknowledged the bank's success."

Aldermore has lent more than £2 billion (a combination of commercial mortgages, residential mortgages, asset finance and invoice finance) since first opening its doors for business in the summer of 2009. Aldermore has approximately 12,000 SME customers and has increased its business client base by 52% during the past year, at a time when many other banks have been scaling back their SME lending activities.
