Aldermore’s 2014 Q3 SME Monitor

Aldermore Bank’s quarterly SME Monitor compiled by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR), shows that annual cost inflation increased in Q3 2014 to 0.8% with the main drivers of the rise being increases in employment costs and the costs of business and construction services.

The key findings for the Q3 2014 report are:

  • Cost inflation for UK SME’s accelerated to 0.8% in Q3 2014, up from 0.2% in the last quarter
  • This pick up was largely due to the increases in employment costs and the costs of business and construction services
  • The cost of physical inputs on the other hand fell by 1.2% year-on-year
  • Annual cost inflation was highest amongst construction sector SMEs while manufacturing SMEs actually saw costs fall.
