Opening an account and paying money in

As with all UK savings accounts, we need to carry out some checks when we open an account for you. These checks help us to meet our regulatory obligations, keep your money safe and reduce the risk of fraud.

We’ll need:

  • your name
  • your address
  • your date of birth
  • your nominated bank or building society account number

These details help us to confirm who you are. We’ll check these details electronically, and if we’re unable to verify them we may need you to provide some additional documents.

We’ll also ask you for:

  • your employment status
  • the sector/industry you work in
  • your occupation
  • your income

We need to collect your employment and income details to help us to comply with our regulatory obligations. We'll only use this information for this purpose.

If you open an ISA, we will also need your National Insurance Number and sort code and account number, or roll/reference number, of any ISAs that you want to transfer from other providers.

You can find out more about how and why we use your details in our Privacy Policy.
