  • As well as great rates, you'll have unlimited access to your savings - you just need to give the selected notice period, as no early withdrawals are allowed
  • You should keep at least £1,000 in your account at any one time (a gross interest rate of 0.50% will be paid on balances below this amount)
  • You simply need to be aged 18 years or over, resident in the UK and only liable to pay tax in the UK
  • You can make deposits at any time. For deposits received via Faster Payments, BACS, CHAPS or Direct Debit, interest will be earned from the date on which we receive your money and for deposits received by cheque, interest will be earned from the second business day after receipt

Managing your account with us is simple and straightforward - and we're always on hand to help if you've any questions. Here's how it works:

  • Once you've opened your account with us, we'll send you a welcome pack, usually within five business days, with all the details you'll need to manage your account
  • If you open an account online, you can log into your account to view and print a statement at any time and we will make a Section 975 Certificate available in internet banking shortly after the start of each tax year.
    If you open an account over the telephone or by post, we will send your statement and Section 975 Certificate by post once a year, usually in April.

Good product and opening it online was straight forward.

The 30 day notice account pays a good rate of interest in the current poor market for savers. I opened the account online which was easy with good screens and helpful explanations. Confirmation of details and initial deposit made arrived in the post only three days later together with useful information.

Too much hassle

I tried to set up a 30 day notice account, and was informed I couldn't as the account I would be transferring money from was 'invalid', and I therefore would not be able to have a direct debit. This is, frankly, rubbish, as it is my main bank account on which I have a number of direct debits, and there is nothing wrong with it. There was no further explanation on the letter as to what 'invalid account' even means. I then tried calling the given number for help, but they were unable to hear me despite my calling twice. There is nothing wrong with my phone so I can only conclude the error is at your end. Therefore I am unable to even ask why my account has been rejected. Altogether this has been too much hassle, and I will be looking for a new account elsewhere.

The account was opened promptly (a week before another account opened at the same time) so interest accrued from an earlier date. Would recommend.

Professional and pleasant customer service.

Having recently opened a 30 day notice account, i found the account opening experience very encouraging. On the occasion i had to contact customer services, they were professional and very pleasant. Moving money to the account was straightforward and on time.

Too early to tell!

I appreciate your seeking comments, but it is really too soon! I have set up and transferred money into the account, but apart from a single telephone call regarding the transfer (which was answered relatively quickly and dealt with efficiently) have not done anything else. Better to seek a review after the first 30 day period......
